Message This is in regard to the oil post from a couple days ago:

Good Morning Mr. Korman,

In the early summer of 2011, we reformulated our SAE street oils to meet the current API SN and ILSAC GF-5 oil specifications. These oil specifications not only set minimum performance requirements, but also set very strict chemistry restrictions. These restrictions required a reduction in anti-wear additive compared to our older formulae, as we as the elimination of our Synerlec additive technology. We just could not meet the requirements of these oil specifications without the chemistry changes. To make sure that our customers can still get a Synerlec containing engine oil without having to move to our very expensive XPR racing oils, we introduced the HPS line at the same time that the API SN formulations were released (summer 2011). The HPS oils are priced just about at, if not the same price as the SAE oils that are commonly available at most parts stores. We also launched a complete revamp of packaging and labels at the same time, with the SAE engine oils moving to the new bottle with the larger cap, and the HPS bottles having only been in that bottle. We are sorry for any confusion this caused. Please note that all Royal Purple products that contain Synerlec have that specifically noted on the front label. We have always provided this note and will continue to do so in an attempt to mitigate confusion. Thanks for choosing Royal Purple and have a great day!

Best Regards,
Christopher Barker
